Chinese Natural Gas Consumption Up 20% in Jan

National Development and Reform Commission said that China saw its consumption of natural gas rise 20% YoY to 16.4 billion cubic meters in January this year. Last month, the country produced 11.2 billion cu m of natural gas, 14.4% more than it realized in the same month of 2011.
In January, China saw its natural gas imports surge 42.2% from a year earlier to 4.8 billion cu m, which accounted for 29.3% of the country's total consumption.
In 2012, the country's natural gas consumption rose 13% YoY to 147.1 billion cubic meters, and its natural gas output grew 6.5% YoY to 107.7 billion cu m, China Knowledge reported earlier.
